Pack/Pride/Clan/Herd Ranks
--- Upper Ranks ---
Alpha Male The Alpha male is the highest tanking male in his herd. He is the one who chooses what actions are to be taken, where to battle, who may join the herd and who may be kicked out of the herd.
Alpha Female Mate to the alpha female, this tole in the pride often means. They are in charge of looking after the young, they are in charge of the hunters/huntresses and the warriors.
Alpha Heirs The alpha pair's children are always the first in line for the alpha position when their parents grow too old or are dead. They must be treated like royalty since they are the leads to be. The other herd members make it their duty to protect these young for they are the herds future leads.
Beta Male The alpha male's main adviser, he takes the role of alpha male when the real alpha male is unable to attend or dies. When and if the alpha pair die and have no heirs the beta male will immediately take over the role as alpha male with no question.
Beta Female The alpha female's adviser, she takes role of alpha female when the real alpha female is unable to attend or dies. When and if the alpha pair die and have to heirs the beta female will immediately take role of the alpha female with no question.
Beta Heirs The beta pair's children, they are not as important as the alpha heirs though they still have some protection. When and if the beta pair are updated to alphas the beta heirs will then be beta male and beta female.
The Deceased The dead or recent alphas. This means that they have either died or have been killed they are deceased. Or they have lost a challenge or did not accept the request they are then deceased. So it simply means past alphas.
--- Lower Ranks---
Healer A highly respected rank within the herd, this member usually has the power to heal all others or see into the future/past. However, only one member can hold this position and they must be experienced in their field (usually 3 years old). To become a healer, one must have a life or death experience in which they almost die but are saved by a spirit, after which the spirit grants them the power to heal. After that, the powers are simply passed down from parent to child. Healers cannot fight in any which way shape or form and are supposed to represent peace and tranquility. So, obviously, the darker herd do not usually have healers.
Healer's Heir The one chosen offspring of the original Healer will become the healer's heir. They will be taught and nurtured either by retired healers (a healer must give up their position at age 8) or by their parents until they reach maturity and become the herd's new healer. If the healer is a male, then they must choose a female heir. If the healer is female, then they must chose a male heir. The genders alternate each generation. However if the healer doesn't have a male/female she/he must chose her/his female/male. And if the healer doesn't have a litter at all another healer must be chosen.
Warriors The most highly respected of the group ranks, they are chosen by the alpha for their strength, ferocity and cunning. They fight the herd's battles, serve and protect the alpha pair, and patrol the borders to keep out intruders. Mostly they are slip up in two groups, one of them will protect the heirs or the alphas and the betas, the other half with patrol the borders.
Hunters Members in charge of assisting in the hunt. Though one of the alphas or betas usually leads the hunt, it's usually the hunters themselves that do the dirty work of actually killing and bringing down prey.
Foals/ Foal. The packs general offspring, basically they are the members that will be in the next generation.
Exiles Anyone that has been kicked out of the pack or is regarded as an enemy in any way.
